What Baby Should Eat?

When it comes to baby feeding, parents often remain conscious about what their babies should eat and what they should avoid. Starting solids for your babies is one of the most difficult decisions. Proper guideline should be followed by parents before giving solids to their babies. All of you must be well aware of the foods that your baby should eat. Start giving solids to your babies when:

  • He/she sits upright and also holds up his/her head
  • He/she is interested to know about everything you eat
  • He/she is still hungry after having the routine food

Following are some of the best foods for baby feeding.

  1. Iron-Fortified Cereal

No doubt, every infant is born with sufficient iron supply but it gets depleted when baby turns six months old. Hence, it is essential to introduce iron-rich foods. Iron-fortified cereal can be a great source of iron for your baby. Besides cereal, you can also try iron-fortified barley and oatmeal.

  1. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are considered one of the healthiest superfoods for the baby. It’s because they are enriched with beta-carotene, which is converted in to vitamin A inside the body. Vitamin A is necessary for healthy skin, protection from different infections, good vision and normal growth.

  1. Avocados

Avocados are enriched with monounsaturated fats that are best for your baby. Simply mash a ripe avocado and then add a little formula milk in it. Mix it well to make a consistent puree. Give it to your baby on regular basis.

  1. Yogurt

Yogurt is a great source of protein and calcium. Give plain yogurt to your baby every day to make their bones strong and to keep them healthy.

  1. Meat

Meat is enriched with protein, iron, vitamin B6, zinc, niacin and riboflavin. This food is considered best for babies ranging between 7-10 months and above. Make sure to chop meat well before cooking so as to avoid any choking. Mix meat with any favorite vegetable puree and breast milk and then cook it well.

  1. Bananas

Bananas are a good source of potassium and calcium. Both these nutrients are considered good for the bones of babies as they are in the developing stage. Therefore, you must add bananas in the regular diet of babies. Peel and cut bananas in small pieces and then mashed them well before giving it to your baby.
